Finding his focus
By his junior year, Kevin Miller had gone through five majors and still didn’t have much focus, he says. He took a journalism class on impulse, just to fill up his schedule.
After a couple more journalism courses, he changed his major one last time. Within six months — and with strong encouragement from Ron Lovell — he was editor of the Barometer.
Writing, Miller discovered, was something he liked, was good at and could make a career out of. Which he has. After spending more than 20 years at the Register-Guard in Eugene, Miller became editor of the Oregon Stater alumni magazine in 2006.
