“She has made me a better person”
Brittney Davis never let her engaging personality and sense of humor shine in classroom settings — until she stepped into Bobette Bushnell’s communications class.
Bushnell’s teaching style kept Davis engaged in the material rather than the tic-tock of the clock. “Many teachers just go through the motions. [Her class] made me step up and speak up,” Davis says.
It wasn’t only Bushnell who inspired Davis. From day one, Bushnell noticed Davis’ academic determination in spite of added stress of playing on the women’s basketball team.
Similarities in character and a common thread in their senses of humor also strengthened their bond. “It’s not a one-way street,” Bushnell says, “I’ve gained from having known you.”
